Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre

The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre is a Broadway playhouse in the Theater District, operated by the Shubert Organization, currently home to the musical The Outsiders. The current name honors a longtime president of the Shubert Organization who helped shape Broadway's modern theater business. In 2005 the Shubert Organization renamed the theater the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, honoring Bernard B. Jacobs, who served as president of the organization for many years and was, alongside Gerald Schoenfeld, one of the two men most associated with rebuilding Shubert's fortunes and reputation in the late twentieth century after a difficult period for Broadway real estate.

The theater remains part of the Shubert Organization's roster and continues to host contemporary Broadway productions, including newer musicals aimed at a broad, present-day audience, its name now a lasting marker of the two men most credited with steadying Broadway's biggest theater-owning company through a difficult era for the city's commercial theater business.
