Clue

Six guests, each known only by a color-coded alias, Mr. Green, Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Professor Plum, Mrs. Peacock and Mrs. White, arrive at a remote mansion for a dinner party hosted by a mysterious man who claims to know all of their darkest secrets. When their host turns up dead before dinner is even served, the guests, along with a butler and a nosy cook, must work out who among them is the killer before the body count climbs any further, all while the police close in on the house.

Clue is a farcical stage comedy by Sandy Rustin, based on the 1985 film of the same name and Hasbro's classic board game Clue, known as Cluedo outside North America. The play premiered regionally before opening off-Broadway in 2018 and has since become one of the most widely produced comedies for regional and community theaters.

Watch for the show's rapid-fire farce, including quick-change costumes, slamming doors and a growing pile of bodies played almost entirely for laughs rather than suspense, and for the six colorfully named suspects, each a broad comic type built from the board game's familiar characters and each with an obvious motive worth watching for. The play leans on physical comedy and running gags more than genuine mystery, with the butler and cook adding their own comic confusion to the guessing game. It suits audiences looking for a fast, silly night out, including fans of the film or the board game and anyone who enjoys a classic whodunit spoof.
